Maybe People Still Discriminate Against LGBTQ+ Because of the Trash You Call Boys Love Stories?

You love the fantasy, but that fantasy keeps screwing us over. Let’s talk about how the BL industry continues to profit off homophobia, rape culture, and recycled plastic faces , and you’re still clapping for it.

Every time I turn on a new BL series, I feel like I’m watching a rerun.

Same faces. Same stories. Same damn milk tea.

And then people wonder:

“Why do some people still look down on LGBTQ+ folks?”

Well maybe , just maybe , it’s because the most popular “queer stories” out there are built on stereotypes, trauma porn, and the idea that love starts with hate, harassment, or forced kisses.

Let’s talk about it.

Why do so many BL series start with the main character hating gay people , and then magically falling in love with the most patient, perfect, “good little gay” who spends the entire season buying them tea and begging for crumbs of affection? Why does being queer mean we always have to earn love from someone who disrespects us? That’s not romance , that’s emotional labor wrapped in homophobia.

And don’t even get me started on the actors. Sometimes I genuinely can’t tell them apart. It’s like they all walked out of the same plastic surgery clinic with the same jawline, the same nose, and the same blank expressions. What happened to uniqueness? What happened to casting real chemistry, real acting , not just “Instagrammable” boys with the emotional depth of a cereal box?

And the worst part? The rape culture. You know what I’m talking about. The “accidental” assault that turns into love. The “I said no but you kissed me anyway and now we’re soulmates” nonsense. What kind of twisted message is that sending to fans , especially young queer people?

If you’re wondering why some people still treat queer people like fetishes, punchlines, or disposable characters, take a good hard look at the stories you’re consuming and calling “representation.” You can’t say you support LGBTQ+ rights and then go cheer for a show where love starts with hate and ends in non-consensual sex.

We deserve more than this. We deserve better stories.

And honestly , you deserve better too.
