The Verdict is In: Build Jakapan is Innocent. Now, who is going to pay for the stolen year of his life?

In the modern era of "Cancel Culture," the gavel drops before the evidence is even presented. We saw it happen in real-time to actor Build Jakapan Puttha.

In January 2023,

the internet decided he was a monster. Based on social media posts~without police reports, without court rulings, and without context~the "Council of Public Opinion" sentenced him to social execution. He lost his job. He lost his platform. He was forced to disappear from the screen while the world debated his character based on rumors.

Fast forward to August 2024, and the truth has finally put on its boots.

The Court Has Spoken: It Was All a Lie

The verdict is not ambiguous. The court did not just dismiss the case for lack of evidence; they ruled that the accusations of physical assault were False Lawsuits (ฟ้องเท็จ). The accuser confessed. The "violence" that justified thousands of hate comments? It never happened.

Build Jakapan didn't just win; he was vindicated. But while the court can restore his legal record, it cannot refund the time he lost.

The Most Toxic Culture in History

This case exposes the rot at the heart of our digital culture. We have normalized a system where an accusation is treated as a conviction. People today~fueled by boredom and a desire for moral superiority~jump into dramas they know nothing about. They destroy reputations for "likes" and "engagement," hiding behind anonymous accounts while real human lives are dismantled.

To the "fans" who burned his merchandise and demanded his removal: You weren't fighting for justice. You were participating in a digital lynching.

JUSTICE IS A VERB, NOT A HASHTAG

The audacity of the internet mob is staggering. People believed that their imagination of what happened was more valid than the reality of what actually occurred. When Build resigned to protect his colleagues, people took it as an admission of guilt. In reality, it was an act of integrity~something his detractors seem to lack.

Justice is a Verb, Not a Hashtag (Let me repeat!!)

Build Jakapan went through the proper legal channels. He stayed silent, he gathered evidence, and he respected the law. The mob, however, respected nothing.

Now that the truth is out, the silence from the loud majority is deafening. Where are the hashtags for his innocence? Where are the apologies from the influencers who monetized his downfall?

We Owe Him an Apology

We cannot undo the trauma of the last year, but we can change how we move forward.

Build Jakapan deserves his career back. He deserves his reputation back. But more than that, he deserves an apology from a society that failed to protect the presumption of innocence.

To Build: Welcome back.

To everyone else: Do better.
